ABSTRACT

Objective:To survey the training requirements for doctoral candidates in general practice. Methods:A questionnaire survey was conducted to investigate the requirements for general practice doctorate training; the items included the training target, training objectives and training contents. A total of 130 stakeholders of general practice participated in the survey, including administrators in health committees, general practice educators of medical schools, general practitioners in hospital and community health service centers and students in general medicine. The participants were divided into training unit group ( n=42), employer group ( n=42) and doctor and student group ( n=46). Results:Among all training objectives, the training "general medicine scientific research ability" ranked the first (121, 93.1%); while 114 (87.7%) respondents believed that the training target should be the leading talents in general medicine. Regarding the content of clinical competence training, 86 (66.1%) respondents believed that there was a lack of medical care training for whole life-cycle and whole population currently. The training requirement for acute disease management and referral competence in employer group was significantly higher than the training unit group (χ2=25.73, P<0.01) and the doctor and student group (χ2=24.37, P<0.01). Most survey respondents believed that the doctorate candidates in general medicine should focus on scientific research training in community clinical medicine ( n=110, 84.6%), community preventive medicine and epidemiology ( n=114, 87.7%); 117 (90.0%) respondents believed that clinical research design and methodology training should be strengthened, and 125 (96.2%) respondents believed that clinical teaching thinking training should be strengthened; 108 (83.1%) survey respondents believed that it is necessary for their units to recruit personnel with doctoral degree in general medicine. Conclusion:The training of doctorate candidates in general medicine should aim at cultivating leading talents in general medicine, strengthen the training of clinical scientific research capabilities, and focus on cultivating their comprehensive abilities of "being able to research, be good at teaching, and understand management", so that they can truly become the leaders in this discipline.

ABSTRACT

Objective To study the emergency staff's knowledge, skills and their training demand in centers for disease control and prevention (CDC) at county and municipal levels in Zhejiang Province. Methods Using multistage cluster sampling, 518 emergency staff from 34 CDCs in Zhejiang Province were involved in this study. A questionnaire survey was conducted among the emergency staff to evaluate their emergency knowledge and training demand. The differences between the staff from CDCs at county and municipal levels were evaluated. Results The average score of the emergency staff was 2.93 about all emergency knowledge. Some items' scores were lower, such as nuclear radiation control, first aid, risk management, ethics, laws and emergency system. The score of the survey items were similar at county and municipal level except education degree, positional title, and proportion of staff in emergency training, score of epidemiology, risk management and first aid. The highest degree of training demand was professional knowledge related to emergency response. The emergency staff inclined to the training mode (≥4) about short-term training, field guidance, drill and exercise and case study. Conclusion We should improve the health emergency training according to the demand and target of fostering inter-disciplinary talents for fieldwork. We should strengthen training of basic theories, basic knowledge and basic skills, to cover the shortage. The short-term training and practical training should be the main training model.

ABSTRACT

Objective The present study aims to establish a professional knowledge structure for the family planning technical team at the current stage in Zhejiang Province so as to meet the needs of training and offer reference evidences for specific and effective training. Methods This study applied a stratified cluster sampling method to carry out a self-administered questionnaire which was anonymous and including general survey, the situation of training, as well as the professional skill structure. This questionnaire was designed through the method of literature review and based on the actual situation of the operation. It col-lected the information from 365 family planning technical staffs who were from different levels of plan family service agencies in four cities, which were Hangzhou, Jiaxing, Taizhou, Wenzhou, respectively, from April to June in 2016. Epidata 3.0 software was utilized to record the data and the data was analyzed using SPSS version 20.0. Subsequently, the relationship between the mastery of professional skill and demographic characteristics was researched by students' t test and one-way analysis of variance (ANOVA) test. Results The education background, major and the professional title structure of the family planning technical staffs varied among different areas. At present, it seems that most of the family planning technical staffs have an aspiration to attend training and 97.53% of them wanted to get professional knowledge through training. The result was not satisfactory when surveyed 298 staff for the mastery of knowledge and skills: 3.66% (9/246) for pelvic floor rehabilitation training, 7.42% (19/256) for genetic counseling, 4.9% (12/245) for prena-tal screening, 5.26% (13/247) for screening and prevention of common breast diseases and 6.22% (15/241) for infertility treatment. There was a significant difference (P=0.000) among the different levels of plan family service agency, education background, major, occupation type and professional title in the mastery of professional knowledge and skill. Conclusion It is necessary to improve the training plan and conduct clas-sification and layering training since the knowledge and skills of family planning technical personnel can not meet the needs of reproductive health services at the new period.
